More information: Understanding Anxiety through Attachment Lens

Anxiety is a mystery that seems to appear out of nowhere at the most inopportune moments. Anxiety threatens to de-rail opportunities to participate in normal everyday activities.

Is this invisible disability preventing those around you from enjoying life? Then this training event may be for you!

Topics to be covered:
• Origins and definitions of anxiety.
• Relationship between anxiety and attachment across the lifespan.
• Neurological factors in anxiety and how pathways develop in the brain
• A model of prevention that examines triggers and brain-wave activity
• Treatment approaches for anxiety that are grounded in attachment principles

There will be opportunities for participants to ask questions and process situations from their own work settings. Additionally, workshop participants will be given the opportunity to work on a practice case, applying an integration of treatment models taught.

Target audience:
• Parents, therapists, social workers, teachers, school counsellors, family support workers and other professionals.

• Jean MacKinnon has an MA in Counselling and is a registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Jean has been working as a family counsellor for 35 years, specializing in children, parents and families as well as working with individuals of all ages who suffer from trauma and anxiety.
